The dates for this high adventure will be August 3 rd through August 14 th of 2026. Adventurers and Navigators who are 14 or have completed the 8th grade are invited to participate. Space will be limited to 10 Trailmen and 5 adults. If the number of Trailmen is less than 10, more adults are welcome to join the team. Expression of early interest is important to secure your spot in the team.

Our team leaders will be Frank Corwin, member of VA-1807, experienced hiker and High Adventure Coordinator for Central Virginia and Blade Alexander, Freedom Rangeman and member of VA-4034. In addition, we will be partnering with Trail Life Troop WY-3078 in Wyoming, who will provide ground support and join us for segments of the trail. The cost of the trek has not been finalized yet, but we plan to keep it at $1200 or less per team member. Each hiker will receive a custom jersey to wear on the trek and to remember it by. Costs will include all transportation, food and camping fees.

There are online planning meetings currently happening for all those interested in attending. The link code for these meetings will be sent to everyone who is interested. In preparation for this adventure, we will host at least two weekend shake-down hikes that all team members would need to attend. These hikes will be local in Virginia and on the Appalachian Trail. Each hike will cover at least 20 to 30 miles. Proposed schedule, menu, personnel and crew packing lists and a recommended exercise plan will be shared during our planning meetings.

Trailmen may have the opportunity to earn various Freedom Experiences during the trek, such as:
EXP 201: Backpacking Wilderness Trip
EXP 401: Mountaineering
SURV 201: Wilderness Preparation.
